On arrival at Park Headquarters you have reached the end of the road – from here on it's walk or take a boat. Mulu is a remote area covered in dense tropical rainforest so getting sick, injured or lost is a problem. Access to many areas of the park is not permitted without a Guide and the state law requires all visitors to caves within the Park to be accompanied by a Guide. All Guides must have a License issued by the Forestry Department of Sarawak. If you are visiting as part of a Tour Group your Tour Company Guide will meet you at the airport and accompany you as required within the Park. For those with an open plan organizing their own activities the Park Office will arrange the services of the World Heritage Guides employed by the Park. |
Once
you have landed in Mulu the Royal Mulu Resort provides a pickup
service for its guests and for those staying in the Park a local
transport service is available. Cost is Rm5 each way.
